Health Guarantee and Terms of Sale
Parrotlet Health Guarantee and Contract of Sale
The purpose of this contract is to offer protection to the purchaser for a major genetic fault that was unknown at the time of sale. There is no guarantee on specific personality or future behavior of bird(s). There is no guarantee on birds that were not bred, hatched, and weaned by Alexandra’s Parrotlets LLC. Guarantee is void if purchased bird is exposed to other birds by buyer. Guarantee is void on “replacement” birds and birds sold for breeding purposes.
Our birds are monitored daily to ensure their health and well-being, and to the best of our knowledge, they are healthy and disease-free. No sick bird will knowingly be sold. Any known health conditions or abnormalities are listed under the notes section. As some health conditions can only be detected by an avian veterinarian, we urge you to take your new parrotlet for a checkup so that you may receive an expert's opinion on their health status. Examination and testing by a licensed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, board-certified in Avian medicine, must take place within the 3-day (72-hour) period from time of receipt. If the bird does not pass the vet examination as healthy, the sale may be negated at the discretion of the seller, upon return of the bird to the seller by the buyer.
If the veterinarian does not give the bird a clean bill of health, buyer must notify the seller within 24 hours via phone call, text message, or email. Seller reserves the right to have the bird re-examined by our avian veterinarian at our cost. Any condition that is minor or correctable is not covered under this guarantee, and no condition which could go away, or is considered to be a condition in which the bird will grow out of is covered. Additionally, birds that are injured in household accidents are not covered under this guarantee. Birds that escape or go missing are not covered under this guarantee.
If your veterinarian determines the bird has a major health problem, please return the bird, along with the veterinarian's written statement and findings to us via email. Any laboratory testing the veterinarian may do must be performed within the 72-hour period for the bird to be covered under this contract. We understand that results of these tests may not be available within the 72-hour period, and as long as the testing was done within the 72 hour period, this agreement will apply. If any problems are found, we will, at our option, either replace the bird with one of equal value (as soon as they become available) or refund the purchase price. We do not assume any liability for veterinary expenses, necropsy expenses, or pet prescription expenses that you may incur.
No warranty or liability is expressed or implied in the case of injury or illness caused by or to the bird by or to other pets or humans in the household. Return of the bird(s) under this contract to Alexandra Meyer in the city of Nampa, Idaho.
It is the responsibility of the buyer, in the event of death of the bird within 72-hours of purchase; a qualified veterinarian must perform a necropsy to determine the cause of death. The necropsy report must be provided to seller within 5 days. To schedule an avian necropsy within the Treasure Valley (Boise, Meridian, Nampa), contact Dr. Gail Breath of West Vet in Garden City at 208-375-1600. I am in no way affiliated with this organization or the persons therein. Their website is as follows: http://www.westvet.net/veterinarians/diagnostic-lab/
As with any living animal, fear, loss of appetite, lack of sleep, chilling, and other forms of stress (including shipping and transportation) can make a bird susceptible to illness, potentially causing diarrhea, respiratory infection and a variety of other problems. Exposure to other birds or environmental factors may also negatively affect a bird's health. A bird could rapidly change from good health to being acutely ill; therefore, a guarantee on a bird's health can only be made for a short period of time.

Sales Contract and Health Guarantee for Alexandra’s Parrotlets LLC
Part II
Sales contract and health guarantee will be considered null and void unless the following conditions are met:
_________1. Parrotlets are tropical birds. Therefore, I agree to place my parrotlet in an environment that is (at minimum) 70 degrees Fahrenheit, out of direct sunlight, and away from drafts.
_________2. I agree to change my parrotlet’s food and water daily.
_________3. I will not use any Teflon/ PTFE coated cookware or PTFE coated room heaters/ space heaters in the same airspace as my bird(s).
Teflon and other non-stick PTFE-coated cookware produce vapors that are extremely toxic to birds. When your bird is exposed to teflon fumes, it will experience teflon toxicity, which is almost always fatal. Health guarantee is null and void for birds that have been confirmed ill or dead due to teflon toxicity/ poisoning at expense of the buyer, with the signature of a board-certified avian veterinarian.
________4. I will not smoke cigarettes, hookah, marijuana, e-cigarettes, and/or “vape” in the same airspace as your bird(s).
_________5. I will not use any aerosols/ air fresheners, perfumes, candles, incense burners, and/or oil diffusers within the same airspace as your bird(s).
_________6. If I cannot keep my parrotlet for whatever reason, I hereby give Alexandra’s Parrotlets LLC the first right of refusal in rehoming or in assisting me with rehoming my parrotlet. In doing so, I agree to contact Alexandra’s Parrotlets LLC of Nampa, Idaho, by email at [email protected] or by phone at 208-819-5367 with intent to rehome the parrotlet.
________7. I agree to keep my parrotlet housed/caged separately from parrotlets of the same or opposite sex to avoid possible trauma to either bird.
________8. I agree to keep my parrotlet housed separately from parrotlets of the opposite sex in order to prevent unplanned clutches of eggs and/or chicks, and possible inbreeding. Please contact Alexandra at Alexandra’s Parrotlets LLC via phone call or text at 208-819-5367 or by email at [email protected] to discuss breeding and parrotlet reproduction. Parrotlets in the USA have a delicate gene pool that has been limited by our inability to import wild-caught parrotlets. Communication, collaboration, and mentorship is crucial in preserving this species for future generations of aviculturists to enjoy. If you are considering breeding parrotlets, I am happy to aid your decision-making process through recommendations and resources.
